Past Few Days

Hey everyone!

How is everyone feeling tonight? This past weekend has been a busy one for me as I have been fighting off a cold, continuing to work at J. Crew and hanging out with my family before I go back to school this Saturday. I am so excited to live in the sorority house but I always miss my home in East Aurora. I just love my family too much to not be sad.

Anyways, I’ll start out with some new years resolution reviews for the first week.

So far, I have been pretty good. Stay hydrated has been good for me, I have been incorporating many veggies into my meals and keeping up with my workouts for that PANAMA bod has been going pretty well. I have been feeling pretty tired though so my gym time has not been as long as I hope if I didnt feel so crappy.

This past weekend my sister Erin and Dad went up to Potsdam because she had to move her things out of the house. She is living home for her final duty as a student for student teaching here in Western New York. It was just my mom and I at home and we got a lot done. We put all the christmas decorations down. (very sad)

Some of the ornaments that were on our tree. Ready to be put back in boxes.

We did lots of cleaning and we also went down to buffalo to my sister Brenna’s house for some wine, cheese and crackers, and then had a nice soup dinner to catch up.

I worked quit a bit this weekend as well which was great because i definitely need money for going back to school!

Some recent eats:

On sunday my mom and I made homemade sweet potato bisque. Sparked by our recent soup kick from the cold weather.

I was craving a thai chicken salad from Panera. So I whipped up a ‘Devin’ original and used a peanut dressing recipe from and used it as my dressing for my veggie salad!

Tuesday my mom had a hair appointment at 4:30 so I offered to make dinner for the family to use up some of my time and show her how much we all appreciate what she does for us every single day. I had been craving meatloaf so I used a turkey meatloaf recipe I found on and served it with roasted broccoli and potatoes. I followed the instructions step by step and it turned out perfect!! Will definitely make again if I am on dinner duty again.

Holiday Recap

Since I have been so MIA on my blog, i’d like to share some photos and stories about the holidays with you all!

I got back from school on December 14th, only to make it home for a celebration dinner for my sister!!! Brenna got engaged to a wonderful man, Steve! I absolutely love them together and I could not be more excited. Check out the ring:

I actually knew since thanksgiving when Steve showed the family a picture of the ring at dinner. Good thing I was at school because it was a lot easier to keep private.

We celebrated her engagement just with the family at Cantina Loco. An excellent mexican restaurant on Elmwood Avenue in downtown Buffalo.

I was so thankful to be home after a stressful week filled with studying for finals. It was time for a break! I was lucky enough to pick up some shifts at my work to make some extra money so I could afford Christmas presents.

Christmas quickly came and my family celebrated Christmas Eve in Amherst with Steve and his family. This was the first Christmas Eve we weren’t at our house. Steve’s mom is an excellent cook and she made chicken parm. it was excellent. My mom and I spent alll day making christmas cookies and a chocolate cake to bring over for dessert. It was a delicious dinner! We also celebrated Brenna and Steves engagement with quite a bit of champagne. (My favorite)

Christmas morning came and we celebrated our traditional way with brunch and mimosas as we opened presents! I got so many great things. Awesome riding boots, a ton of Delta Gamma related gifts and more! It was a wonderful day.

And the last celebration was New Years Eve! My original plans were to head back to school but with work and travel issues I ended up staying in Buffalo. I do not regret it at all though. My family and I went to dinner at Siena Restaurant and it was so delightful we drank wine and had a blast for about 3 hours just laughing and being silly. I absolutely adore my family.

Then I headed back into East Aurora and went to a friends house to ring in the new year with my friends from high school! It was such a fun night and I had a blast.

New Year Baby!

Well i’d definitely have to say that i was an awful blogger this year. I slacked off incredibly and basically pushed my blog to the side as a whole.

I regret it. I should have spent more dedication to blogging. I love it, I just became the typical lazy college student and avoided doing anything that was not required.

But with the new year, one of my resolutions is going to be blog more! pay attention and get my name out there! I have a lot to share with everyone. Not saying my life is all that exciting but i definitely think people can relate to some of my stories i will share.

Some of my other new years resolutions is to cut down on my unhealthy snacking and to drink more water and less soda! I get into such a bad habit at school when it comes to snacking/eating.

I also want to keep working out hard and making an effort to be physically active everyday. I’m going to panama in March and i want to look H-O-T.

What are some of your new years resolutions?

Wild Weekend

Sorry I have been MIA all weekend! I have been busy with Sorority Recruitment.

I have to start out by saying that it was one of the best experiences of my life and I could not be happier right now! I know to some of you, it just does not make sense but if you are interested on the crazy weekend then heres a recap of what went down for me!

Formal recruitment began on Thursday. Thursday and Friday all the potential new members going through recruitment got to meet all six sororities on campus. We attended three parties each day. It was wild! A girl I met in the beginning of the week was also going through recruitment so we decided to walk over together. We got to the third floor of the student center about 45 minutes early but as soon as we saw the amount of girls who were already there, my nerves immediately set in. It was unreal! We were divided into groups and I did not know any of the girls. But after spending an entire weekend with this group I met some awesome girls! Things got pretty crazy after those long days and we became pretty close! After all the parties, I fell in love with almost all of the sororities, they were all so different and fun!

On Saturday, we got to visit the sorority houses. I woke up extremely early because I was so excited and nervous! Once I arrived at the student center, I received my schedule and I had four houses to attend that day. They were all wonderful. They were so homey and welcoming. I was overwhelmed and I could not make up my mind. The more I thought about it, I was able to pick my top two chapters. I crossed my fingers that I could visit them on Sunday for the final day!

I could barely sleep Saturday night. My head was all over the place. When I got to the student center at 10 a.m. I was so confused. I did not know what to do!

I visited my two favorite chapters and immediately knew where I could call home when I walked into the house on Sunday. I could not stop smiling! We returned to the student center where we filled out a sheet to determine which sorority we felt would be a better fit. After that, we anxiously waited to receive our letter to determine which sorority we will become a new member of.

I am proud to say that I am now a sister of Delta Gamma! ⚓

I owe it all to some amazing girls I met during the weekend who I truly connected with and am proud to call my sisters. I cannot wait to meet all my new sisters in the next few weeks and I am truly excited to see what these next three years bring me!

Ahh… Sleep!

I was finally able to sleep the whole entire night! I slept from 12:30 a.m. until 8 a.m.! It was glorious.

I have been having a pretty tough time sleeping since i’ve moved into my dorm this past August. I usually end up waking up in the middle of the night and not able to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. I think partly it has to do with the fact I have no air conditioning and I wouldn’t doubt it if it got over 95 degrees in our room the first week and a half. Another part of it is definitely a mental thing. Once i’m up thats all I can think about and I just make it worse for myself.

My friends and I decided to take it easy last night and stay in. We had a girls night just painting our nails, listening to music and then we put in the Devil Wears Prada (one of my all time favs) Now that I am fully rested, I am ready to take on the day!

I’m off to eat some breakfast and work on some homework.

Happy Saturday! xo

Question of the morning: How many hours of sleep do you like to get?

I consider myself a grandma and love to get 7-8 hours a night!
